The European Union legislature have proposed a large raft
of new legislation which at their own admission is based on scant evidence
that it is even needed! The planned day of action is to highlight the oppressive
legislation which is proposed, just some of which is detailed below.
Anti-tampering regulations preventing riders modifying
any part of power-train from air filter, sprockets to rear tyre size.
Future MOT tests to control non-standard parts (Like
TUV in Germany)
Random road-side stop vehicle checks to enforce
anti-tampering for motorcycles only (Not cars!)
Compulsory ABS fitment to All motorcycles with no override.
Compulsory fitment of electronic On-Board Diagnostics,
which will disable the vehicle when certain faults found -
Emissions become excessive
Non-standard parts fitted
Three new progressively tighter emissions limits
to be introduced over next 5 years.
France is also pushing for even more anti-biking
legislation as detailed below.
Mandatory wearing of high visibility vests
Banning of motorcycles over 7 years old from roads in
their cities
Total ban on filtering through traffic
Ireland is legislating for riders and pillions to wear
high visibility long sleeve jackets
